Peacefully at his home in Port Franks on Monday, June 9th, 2008. Gerry will be deeply missed by his loving family. Wife and friend of 48 years Gladys (née Morrison), daughters Jody and son-in-law Daniel Boileau (Sechelt B.C.), Jennifer and son-in-law Paul Brouwer (London). "Grampy" to Allison and Thea, his little sweethearts who will miss him dearly. Born in Morcambe England in 1933, Gerry emigrated to Canada in 1948 with his late parents Jack and Jane Shaw. Survived by siblings Kathleen MacDonald (Don) of London, Phyllis Needham (Don Ellis) of Wasaga Beach, David Shaw (Janet) of Glenwood, Nfld. and Anne Muir (Wilson) of Wasaga Beach. Gerry will be missed by Ross and Louise Morrison of Mount Forest and Grant and Elsie Morrison of Courtney, BC. Gerry will also be missed by many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of their summer visits to the cottage. A long time resident of London ON, Gerry moved to the cottage in his retirement after 45 years service at the London Free Press, where he made several lifelong friends. He was an avid lover of birds and nature, and enjoyed his time spent with friends and family at Port Franks. Sincere thanks from Gerry's family to Dr. Brian Dingle and Nancy Fulton at the LRCC, the nursing staff of C7 300 and Dr. Jeje at Victoria Hospital in London. Heartfelt thanks to the CCAC and Palliative teams in London and Lambton County, with special gratitude for the compassionate care provided by nurses Linda Burns and Margaret Kawase. Visitation will be held at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church in Forest (68 Union St.) on Friday, June 13th, 2008 from 11am-12pm followed by Memorial Funeral Mass at 12pm with Fr. Gerard Bedard celebrant. Private interment of cremated remains will take place at St. Peters Cemetery in London at a later date. Donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Christopher's Church Building Fund or the London Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be left online at www.dodgefuneralhome.com Arrangements entrusted to Ronn E. Dodge Funeral Home (519-786-2401). ** In memory of Gerry, a living tribute has been planted.
