I worked for Basil & Nancy during my teenage years, and enjoyed it as they were fair, hard-working, and were building up the business, and corporation. Basil was a progressive farmer, trying to do things efficiently and well, so it was good to work with him. It was sort of funny that I learned something about grace from Basil, as he could be quite short with his children when they screwed up on something; one week when I was about 16 years old I had 3 things break on the farm, including a manure spreader tire that I poked a hole in with the front-end loader! I thought Basil would fire me, but he just said "bad things happen sometimes."...and that was that.
My condolences to the family, as Basil and Nancy were not only good employers, but also good neighbours.

The Steven Family:
My deepest sympathies go out to you all. I always looked forward to talking Basil when I picked up the milk at the farm. The best memory was when I called Basil in the night 3am to see if he would come and pull me out of a snow bank in a snow storm, while I was trying to go to get the milk truck for work. His response was well just wait while till I get my pants on . What a great gentleman.

Sending my sympathies to all the Steven family. I remember Basil well when I lived on Egremont road. He was a wonderful man, had a great sense of humour and loved to talk.
