Dear Gerry and Family, I am so sorry for your loss and want to pay my respects through this tribute. When I first met Irene, she was a young newly wed and I was just a gawky kid from across the road, lucky to have a job picking fruit. She was always so very nice to me and my brother. I remember her big grins when she would hand us our money because she knew we were on cloud nine with dreams about what we were going to buy. She was always working hard but even so, she had a twinkle in her eye and a smile for everyone. I will always remember her being shy, sweet and kind with an amazing green thumb and a passion for colorful flowers. To all the Veen Children, especially Susie and Bernice, So sad to hear of the sudden passing of Irene, I got to know Irene when she and I were working at the Strathroy Market, quite a few years ago. She always impressed me with her stoic, dutch strong woman attitude. She was a hard worker and a great Mom, raising all those children in her strong fashion. Irene was an honest and dedicated boss, treating everyone fairly. She will definitely be missed. We will be praying for your families over the next couple of days as you lay Irene to rest and have a family time of remembering this wonderful woman. Arnolda and Ralph Baker.
