Just read in The Independent of the passing of Mike Macko. My condolences to the family. I had the good fortune of teaching Mike in his early years at St Paul’s in Thamesville. When I think of Mike, this picture comes to mind. Mike never gave up on his family, his friends, his customers or when he was on his bike. Sending Cathy and the rest of the Macko family my deepest condolence on Mike’s passing. Over the years he was always around to welcome our family back to the Valley for the spring and summer season. Even this August he stopped by with Lauren for a chat and proudly introduced me to his grandkids. He still managed to have that wonderful smile and positive caring manner. I was very saddened to hear that Mike had passed. Please accept my deepest condolences. From the time I first met him as a classmate at St. John Fisher school and then all through high school, Mike always left me with a clear impression that he was living life as he wanted. Always friendly and engaging and interested, but also steadfast in pursuing his own approach to life without being overly concerned about peer reaction. Later, I enjoyed seeing facebook pics of Mike’s motocross adventures and our quick catch-up chats after Mass at St. Christopher’s when I was home for a visit. A great life, well-lived. Rest in peace, Mike.
