The Man, the Myth, the Legend…..
He was named Robert at birth but would answer to Bob, Bobby, Uncle Buck, poppa and those who worked with him called him “Stromie”. Having worked a lifetime, he was a hardworking & dedicated employee with only a handful of employers – Mayfair Hotel, Electrohome, Nicholson Haulage and retiring from Stack a Shelf.
It was always family first for Bob. Age did not matter as we are all kids at heart.
Having a big heart and a trusting nature, It wasn’t uncommon for him to hand over his keys to his van & house to a trucker while loading their trailer. Go have a rest – I’ll call you when it’s ready. Bob made many friends while travelling the world. He panhandled for gold in Alaska, zip-lined in Costa Rica, drove an ATV through the desert of Curacao, had a custom suit tailored to him in Hong Kong, cruised through the original Panama Canal, toured the historic sites of Bermuda, explored New Zealand & the Azores. He became an adopted family member to those he met. Always getting an open-ended return invite with free accommodations.
Bob had 2 more loves in his life. If you received an ecard, it was signed love Bob & Smoke. His female feline was his comfort partner. His other love – or passion was riding on his John Deere lawn tractors. He had a special relationship with Mother Nature… you don’t mess with his cutting schedule!
Bob lived a remarkable frugal existence. His catch phrase about money was – they make it every day & you can’t take it with you….
So do as Bob did, travel often, take those adventures and live each day to the fullest.
Special thanks to the ICU team at Strathroy Hospital.
