Obituary of Marjorie Phyllis Sercombe
Formerly of Forest and Arkona area, Marjorie Phyllis Sercombe passed away peacefully on Friday November 17, 2023, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.
Marjorie was born in Petrolia at CEE Hospital, September 11, 1926.
She is survived by her loving daughter Carol (Bob) Spence of Sarnia ON, and daughter in law, Nancy Sercombe of Forest ON.
Cherished Nana of Kaylea, Kasey, and Kraig Sercombe. Survived by her brother Ken Blain of Forest ON, sisters Elizabeth Holbrook of Sarnia ON, and Helen Reid of Rocky Mountain House, AB. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her son Craig (1999), and husband Richard J. (Dick) Sercombe (1975).
Predeceased by her sister Eleanor (Les) Skillen, brother Donald (Jennie) Blain, sister Rose Blain, sister-in-law Jeanne Blain, brothers-in-law Ewart Holbrook and Larry Reid.
Predeceased by parents, Bill, and Mina (Wilkinson) Blain.
Also Predeceased by in-laws Wilhelmine and Jim Wilson, Raymond and Jean Sercombe, Fred and Beverly Sercombe, and Frayne and Diane Sercombe.
Marj enjoyed outdoor life, gardening and family get togethers. She travelled in Canada, the USA, and to Europe. She enjoyed the family cottage at Kettle Point for 40+ years. She enjoyed music and sang in the church choir. Later in life she volunteered with the Red Cross and VON.
Prior to marriage, Marj worked in the office at Lambton Mutual in Watford and in Personnel at Polymer in Sarnia. After marriage, her farm life was also very important for nearly 20 years.
Many thanks to all my family, church friends, Brookside friends, Order of the Eastern Star friends, and all who helped me, especially my daughter Carol and her husband Bob along life’s way.
The Family wish to thank Brookside Retirement Living and Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for wonderful care Marjorie received.
Visitation will take place at Denning’s of Forest, 9 James St. S on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 from 12 – 1 pm. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm. Rev. Gordon Simmons officiating. Interment to take place at Arkona Cemetery.
