Dear Jean and Joan and families, I was so sad to hear of your Mom's passing. She was such a wonderful lady, and I always love visiting her, every since I was a small guy. As a neighbour, she was like a second mom and I remember staying there with she and Lloyd when my parents were away. And she was so much fun, always a twinkle in her eye, and a great cook; when I let my ex-wife know, she passes on the following: "Leila was a beautiful, vibrant lady, I’ll never forget her bright smile and her love of laughter. I have lovely memories of evenings spent at their home ... I still make her ribs and sauerkraut recipe and it’s always a hit. She also hosted a baby shower for Leslie’s birth at her home with all the women in your moms circle, Betty Jamison, Alice Walton, the blond lady from Kernohans and of course Aunt Dorothy. I’m sorry, she’s gone." I am also sorry she's gone; there were many parties at our home that my Mom organized with the "Gang", Fred and Betty, Bill and Marguerite, Leila and Lloyd, my Uncle Stuart and Aunt Dorothy, and I know Leila was always the life of the party. It seems like now the end of an era. I had a chance to visit her a few times at the Lodge and she was still so sharp. I took a letter to her around her 100th birthday that I read and left with her - I don't know if you ever saw it but I would be happy to share it if you get back to me with your email address. I remember she said at that time, that the people at the Lodge were so nice - "they even let me have a drink occasionally" Although I couldn't make it to the visitation, due to a family visit, I was coming to the funeral to see you all and offer my condolences. That morning however, there was a medical emergency with my wife who had to be taken by ambulance to University Hospital; she's recovering thankfully.

The Braun Family is saddened to hear of Leila’s passing. She was such a special lady. Our dad, Bill always called her, “Old Silver.” Leila and our mom, Marguerite, used to call each other every Wednesday morning to ask each other what day it was! They did this for years. Such good memories. Leila, you will be missed by so many. Love, Nancy, Bill, Bob and Jim Braun and families

Gordon and I have so many fond memories of times spent with Aunt Leila over the years. What we will miss most is her ability to always say I love you. We love you too Aunt Leila.
