Obituary of Phillip Bruce Thomas
Phillip Bruce Thomas, at the age of 59 started his journey to the spirit world on September 1, 2022, to reunite with his parents, Fredrick “Ted” Thomas and Betty Thomas, brother Don Thomas and other family members. He suffered from cancer and fought hard to stay to continue his love and care for the family. He peacefully passed with son Jacob Thomas and best friend Lee Ann McCormick by his side.
Phil graduated from the Process Operator Program at Lambton College & was recognized for his academic intelligence finishing with the highest grade level in the graduating class. He immediately started his long life career as a Process Operator with Hydro One maintaining a senior status in supervisory positions. Phil was also a great musician, recognized for his talent as a lead guitarist and singer, he graced performances in Toronto with his Uncle Len and in his homeland territory, Sarnia-Lambton.
Phil will be sadly missed by his sons & their families, youngest son Jacob Thomas & partner Kristy Rowland, Brigden, Ontario and oldest son Dayktoa Oliver, London, Ontario. He had five grandchildren, Matao Oliver-Barrera; Xavia Oliver-Halfday; Zylah Oliver-Halfday; Zion Oliver-Halfday and Quaylyn Oliver-Halfday, London, Ontario.
He had a special love for his Aunt Gerri, Toronto, and her family, Mark & Saya Julian-Johnson, their children, Marcus, Jayden, Lexus, Raven & Justice (very special to him); Star Laford and Albert Laford. Before starting his career as a Process Operator he spent a few memorable years in Toronto with his Aunt. He had a special love for his Aunties Vickie Henry, Marlene Cloud and Adrianne Bressette, Kettle & Stony Point & their families.
He will be sadly missed by his oldest sister Dianne Thomas & Eric Mott (partner), his nieces and nephews, Patience Thomas-Hodgkin, Clayton Thomas, Angie Thomas, Justina Thomas, Brandon Moodie-Gray and Jason Moodie. He mentored his nephew Jason on the guitar and enjoyed jamming to tunes of AC DC and Metallica.
He will be missed by his sister Jackie Szkoda & Steve Szkoda, their son’s Peter and Mark Szkoda of Toronto, leaving memorable times together.
He will be remembered by his oldest brother Kelly Thomas & his family, Jennifer Marchant, Chris & Krista Linklater, Molly & Meg Linklater, St. Mary’s, Jennelle Thomas, Joclynn Thomas, and Jolene Thomas, London.
His special friends leave their condolences, Speedy Bressette, cousin Dennis Cloud, Martin Taylor, Don Taylor and Mike Lockery
A traditional ceremony with his family will be held in the home at the homestead, 6306 Indian Lane, Kettle & Stony Point, Ontario, on Tuesday September 6, at 12:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to join in his last ride around the community and final goodbye at the Kettle & Stony First Nation cemetery. A special viewing will be held for family & friends on Monday September 5, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:30 PM. Evening visiting outside is welcome respecting COVID protocols for Health & Safety measures. Light refreshments will be available at the homestead after the ceremony. A special thank you to all that have reached out to the family.
