“My First Best Friend”
Boozhoo, my name is Tyler French. Most of my family from Kettle Point might not know or remember me.
But, I need to acknowledge this beautiful human we lost suddenly.
My parents are Eldon and Dorothy French, my grandmother is Ellen George. Our family used to run the Kettle Point Tent and Trailer Park along Lake Road in the late 80’s early 90’s.
I’m born in 1985, and I still remember the day we had to move away from home (KP) to support my father in is working endeavours.
My first memory that comes to me from my lifetime are from my childhood involving my best friend… Michael David Shawnoo.
You made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fun. I loved running away from home to go live with you and your family for a day or two. We always had a blast exploring the tent and trailer park together.
I cried, and cried, the day we moved away from Kettle Point. But more importantly I was leaving my best friend behind. Although moving to Chippewas of the Thames First Nation is only a 45 minute drive. It felt like I was driving 1000’s of kms away from my family and friends.
Every summer my parents would bring me back home to KP to connect with my family. Deep down inside, I always wondered where my best friend was, and what Michael was up too? Where was Michael living?
Fast forward, 30+ years, and I finally found my best friend again. I’m still crying knowing I missed out on 30 years of having you in my life.
Looking over all the beautiful comments on how you lived life the right way, supported your family, shows what type of man you grew up to be. Reading all the loving memories of you as made me proud of you in so many ways brother. My heart aches knowing you’re gone on your next journey before I could say ‘Hi’ again, let alone ‘BYE’.
I needed to heal and I figured what better way then to share our time together growing up having fun at the ballpark and on the campgrounds.
My memories of growing up in Kettle Point revolved around you. I wanted to let you know one last time how much I miss you and how much I love you.
Rest easy my friend, you will and always have a place in my memories and heart, love ya buddy.
Tyler Lorne William French aka Donatello (Purple Ninja Turtle)
In loving memory of….”My First Best Friend”

Oh Mike, My heart is broken over your sudden loss. I have such good memories of you at KP. I am so glad that you and Jamie come down to meet me in Chatham a few years ago for us to catch up.
"May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs receive you at your arrival and lead you to the holy city Jerusalem. May choirs of angels receive you and with Lazarus, once a poor man may you have eternal rest."
My sincerest condolences to your family at this time. No words can express how I feel for them.

Dear Mike,
You were a wonderful husband and father who worked hard and provided for your family. Everyone knew how much you loved Hailey and your kids. I told you that the last time you took me to Costco. You will be missed by many because of what a caring person you were. Always ready to lend a helping hand.to family and friends. I wish we'd had more time together. Watch over your family while at the Creators side.
