To my dear high school BFF Leila, why could I not connect with you sooner…. My obviously ineffectual search to find you eventually led me to this sad place. It’s been weeks since the discovery. I am devastated to learn of your passing more than a year ago.
You were an absolute goddess of kindness and positive thinking - a teacher and helper to everyone you met on Life’s journey. No matter the day, you always put your best face forward, tried your hardest and looked your best. Truly one of a kind. I will live you and miss you forever.
My deep condolences - sympathy in your sorrow to Roman, Julia, George, Leon and families, who I surely hope are all well.

Leila and I were co-workers at OSSTF. She was so supportive of me during my own journey with cancer. Even as she fought her own battle, she preferred to talk about how I was doing and not herself. I'll always remember her selfless personality, her bright smile, gorgeous dresses and those oh so high heels! A beautiful, compassionate, talented and strong woman. I miss her.

I worked with Leila first on the Certification Committee and then at provincial office. She was always so professional but even more important, always willing to share her knowledge and assist anyone.
Leila loved to laugh and always wanted to hear how you were doing, how the kids were etc, never spent time talking about herself unless you asked her specific questions. I always looked forward to spending time with her! She was a great lady!
Rest In Peace, Leila

George, Roman, Leon, Julia, and all of your families,
I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I have many memories of Leila as we all grew up on neighbouring farms. She always seemed so ahead of her time to me for a teenager. She taught accordion lessons first at your home and then in Forest, allowing Julia and I to tag along sometimes. I recall going to watch her play at different venues as well. She was always so fashionable and had the latest trends. She did not mind when Julia and I would rifle through her things. I never saw her angry. I remember her coming home from a concert so excited about the performer who did handstands on his piano! (his name was Elton John and it was the first time I had heard of him) I recall her coming back to the Aberarder field days to cheer Julia on in her events. My most vivid memory of her is on the beach were we all tried to spend as much time as possible. Leila in her red bikini, darkest tan, athletic body playing whatever the sport of that day may be. You are all in my thoughts, please take care.

I worked with Leila at the OSSTF Provincial Office in Toronto. She was one of the foremost experts with regards to teacher certification in Ontario. Her professionalism and thoroughness was never matched. I will always remember her stunning outfits and shoes! My condolences to her family and friends...she will be truly missed. The world has lost one of the most sweetest and sincere souls.

I worked with Leila at the OSSTF provincial office where she was one of my favourite colleagues. During my tenure there, I too did several certification presentations with her for teacher candidates and I was always awed by the breadth of her knowledge. In her work as the Supervisor of the OSSTF Certification Department, her dedication in ensuring that members were well-served and had clear and reasonable paths for upgrading was beyond compare. In addition, Leila was often consulted by personnel at faculties of education for advice related to her knowledge of teacher qualifications. Beyond work, after I retired, I visited her a couple of times in London where she had moved after her own retirement to be closer to her family; once I even picked her up there to go to Stratford to go out to dinner, do some shopping, and see a play at the Stratford Festival. I have such fond memories of Leila and I will miss her.

I worked very closely with Leila at OSSTF. She taught me a lot about Certification when I was given that assignment. We travelled together to make presentations to university students, always had fun doing so and even shared the odd glass of wine. Leila was always professional. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family and friends.
