To Coleen's family: I am very sorry for your loss!!
Coleen, I cannot imagine that you are no longer here!!
I remember the many years that we worked together and all the planning, leadership, initiative and the very hard work that you took the time to plan an amazing event to our students- Pinning Ceremony that will last in my memories forever and ever!!!
I remember St. Patrick's Day and how you dressed up wearing all green :)
Stopping by at your desk, I was always greeted by an affectionate smile and laughter. You were always there to lend a hand, to listen, and to comfort both in difficult and in happy times!!
I will always remember you and all the fun times that we had working together and planning the dates and times of Pinning Ceremonies that will match the pregrad workshop.
Miss you and RIP!!
Your colleague,

I have had the pleasure of teaching with Coleen, and I am still shocked she is no longer with us. She had the biggest heart and loved our students, her presence was always vibrant and was the light needed during every class or lab session for both staff and students. She was first to stand and march with you, and the first to to embrace you when you needed it the most. She had a personality we will always remember and her impactful contributions will forever echo through the halls at our college. With love and respect to Coleen's family and friends, I am sorry for your loss and I miss her greatly.

My sincerest condolences to Taz's family. Although I did not know her for very long, she definitely made an impact! I have never met anyone more genuine and full of life. She always had a smile on her face and it was infectious! We played cards together on Friday nights at Paradise Valley and I was able to join her and the Bingo B*tches one summer. She always had a cooler full of treats!! And was always able to make me laugh.
I still cannot believe this is real and my heart is heavy knowing that I will never see that smile again. Life at Paradise will definitely never be the same again. But I feel blessed that I was given the chance to meet this amazing woman and call her a friend, for even a short period in life. Taz, you will be missed

I am so deeply sorry for your loss.
I had the privilege of being on the committee that interviewed Coleen for her teaching position at Centennial College. Her obvious passion for the profession, as well as her fabulous sense of humour, inspired me to recommend that Coleen be offered the position. I am so grateful that she was hired and that i was able to get to know the wonderful person she was. I will raise a glass in her memory not only today, but also on Canada Day and Halloween (we shared a great love for this day).

I and a few others had the privilege of being hired at the same time as Coleen, at Centennial College. This was the beginning of a wonderful group friendship filled with lots of laughter, even during the not-always-fun orientation sessions we had to attend. But that also meant that afterwards we would be able to continue our good times with food, more laughter and of course Coleen’s frosted beer mugs.
Working at a desk near Coleen meant years of at least 6 of us being heard laughing (a little louder than others might have liked), sharing the antics of our students and just enjoying each other’s company.
Friends from work will also remember the many good times spent laughing with Coleen as the “black technology cloud” circled her computer making sure it didn’t always do what Coleen wanted. They will also remember that her answer was always “yes” when anybody needed anything and that you could always get a snack, a laugh and see Charlie in a new outfit at Coleen’s desk.
Sharing in one of Coleen’s favourite past-times, cheering on the Blue Jays not-always-winning, has so many hilarious and wonderful memories.
Our personal and professional lives will never be the same without this joyous, Taz-loving, selfless beautiful person and soul. My condolences to her family for this great loss.
We will always remember and cherish you, Coleen.
Go Jays!!! Love you gurl!

To Coleen's family and friends:
So sorry to hear of your loss. Coleen was a fellow teacher in the Practical Nursing Program. Her legacy will carry on with the "Pinning Ceremony" that she faithfully worked on each semester. She did those Pinning Ceremonies with such a high spirited energy that reflected her commitment to the profession of nursing. The message that she gave to so many students at those pinning ceremonies will also be remembered by many for years to come as part of a very happy time at Centennial College and one that celebrated their entry into the profession of nursing. Coleen was the main person behind organizing this event. Coleen was a hard working and committed faculty member who you could depend on to do her part. The nursing students also loved her!! Coleen's legacy will live on in so many of the practical nursing students that she taught over the years and she is part of who they are today as nurses. While saying goodbye is never easy, I hope this short poem is of comfort to you.
MEMORIES Memories are something we hold dear.....of someone we love to keep them near. Memories will not fade or go away...those memories in our hearts will forever stay.
Deep and heartfelt sympathies from Jackie Bishop (Professor at Centennial College)

In the fall of 2011, I was lucky enough to attend a conference in Halifax with Coleen and some other colleagues. We had a great trip and really got to know each other well. A few highlights included our day at Peggy's Cove, a tour of Alexander Keith's brewery (certainly Coleen's favourite!) and sharing a wonderful lobster dinner with dancing afterwards. Coleen and I made sure the dance floor was kept busy until they kicked us out!
I wanted to share this picture of Coleen at the Peggy's Cove lighthouse. Great memories - she will be deeply missed!

Our lives are so much richer for having Coleen as not just a relative but truly a close friend. Many hours spent around a campfire sharing our thoughts, stories and laughing uncontrollably. Coleen was never short of opinions on any subject and would welcome an engaging debate ... at times I think we sought opposing opinions just to liven up a discussion.
Her love of hockey and baseball was known by all, with a passion second to none. We would watch the Leafs and Jays cheering, critiquing and the occasional profanity when of course the Leafs would inevitably make some bone-head play.
Coleen always strived for better and where others might have thrown in the towel, she continued with a constant smile and infectious laugh all the while encouraging others through her efforts.
Thank you Taz for touching our lives and making it so much brighter.

Colleen wasn't just a colleague, she was truly a friend. I sat directly facing Colleen separated by a cubicle divider and our equivalent pile of textbooks. If we were both in the office at the same time, it was not uncommon to peak up out of our "fox hole" and chat. We were both Union Stewards deeply committed to helping our fellow faculty. She was a kindred spirit. She was completely devoid of political ambition and one of the most authentic people I have ever worked alongside. A true warrior and a true healer. Colleen represented common sense in a world that doesn't make much sense at times. There was a comfort in her strength. We have lost a truly noble person. Rest in peace my friend, you have earned it!

Aunt Beth, Uncle Jack and Colette,
I am so going to miss Coleen's infectious smile - that mischievous glint in her eye...that passion - whether she was trying to keep us all connected and having fun at the Karr campouts, or inspiring her students to succeed, going well beyond what was expected of her, or leading the charge as a union steward during the last college strike - Coleen was always true to herself and what she valued - family, friendship, her profession and above all going that extra mile to make sure all those around her are being supported, taken care of and having a good time. I'll miss the wicked Caesars, and commiserating about crazy academic workloads and marking - above all, I'll miss her.

My Coleen, what can I say! She was such a force of nature. She always looked after everyone else first. She never let anyone know when she herself was hurting. She was like a ROCK. She was such a good friend to me. She always called me her “Sister”. When we both worked at East General we were two peas in pod. She would tell me opposites attract. Coleen loved her
sports... me not at all. I was miss crafty to her. She just accepted people for who they were. No judgement!
When we no longer worked together it did make our friendship harder. When we did get together or just chatted about crap, it was like nothing had changed. She was always supportive and happy for me. I just wished she had had things a little easier. Like her breathing. Her breathing was always an issue, but she never it let hold her back. She was just so strong. I can only wish to be as strong as she was. I will miss her little eye brow raises, the funny faces, all her expressions, and her favorite one "Mornings are wrong” declaration!
I hope she knows that I did everything she would expect of me. And that I was blessed to be there in any way I could for both Beth and Jack. She knew I’d do whatever I could no matter what.
Rest in peace now my sister. I love you. Cindy Lou!

Centennial will miss her. Her colleagues & students will miss her. Coleen was a great nurse and teacher. My best memory is how wonderful she was in advocating for a student who was in critical care in a local hospital. Even though she did not know the student, she asked us if she could get involved to help the family advocate for this student. That’s the kind of person she was - kind, thoughtful, smart - (and funny).

Please accept our deepest condolences to Jack and Beth and family and friends that loved "Taz" so much. She will be missed by a lot of people. In reading about this great person, I am just sorry I never met her, - even though we were related.
When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.
Sincerely, Bob & Eleanor (Coulbeck) Watson

I had the privilege of having Coleen as a teacher at Centennial college. She had such an amazing personality that made all of us excited for class. She was so knowledgeable and always pushed us to better ourselves and always took her time to make sure we were okay. She was a true role model. She is responsible for so many capable nurses that are out there today, all of which wouldn’t be nearly as amazing if it weren’t for her in our lives. She was truly amazing and kind, and will be dearly missed by all.
RIP Coleen. You were truly one of a kind.

Coleen was an amazing person to work with. Kumaran and I had the honor of getting to know Coleen at work in the nursing program at Centennial College. Our fondest memories are when we were on the picket line at our dreadful strike in 2016...Coleen kept our spirits up and organized so many wonderful BBQ's with all the toppings to help keep us positive and motivated! What a wonderful person who will be dearly missed. We want her to know that she was unbelievably special and will never be forgotten. RIP our friend!

Tax was always the light in TEGH emergency room. From the Halloween costumes to the wheel chair races. She was a great caring nurse who brought knowledge and the much needed humour to the department

Words can’t express how heart broken I am that she’s gone. I think of her every day , everything I know about nursing is because of her. I was supposed to see her last spring just before we got hit with Covid. I will wait until we meet again C and we can have a cold one (or many) together up there. I promise to keep making you proud. Now you can watch over me and guide me while I help people the way you showed me how to when you were my teacher. I will never for your you, you are forever my mentor. Love you C ❤️

Ken and I extend our sincerest condolences to Aunt Beth, Uncle Jack, Colette, Bill and family.
Cousin Coleen, was a firecracker, always had a huge smile and she was very family oriented!
I have many fond memories of spending time with the twins on the farm. We were so excited when they were coming from Toronto.
We will miss Coleen tremendously at family gatherings.
She was a kind, caring dynamic person and fought an unfair fight with covid.

Our hearts are broken at the loss of Coleen. She was a determined and a strong woman. She persevered through all of life's challenges by her faith. The Tazmanian Devil was an apt. symbol for Coleen Our family admired her approach to life with her "can do" attitude. She will be forever missed. Uncle Bruce, Aunt Jan, Steven and Heather Karr.

Jack, Beth ,Colette& family, words cannot express how much delight and love that Coleen has brought to our family through the years. Our Taz was such a part of our family as she grew from a little girl called " boots" when she visited our family farm to a very proud cousin to our kids taking part in all the family get togethers. Hers was a life well lived , a daughter whom you can be very proud of and a niece that leaves a big hole in our hearts as she leaves us to follow her faith . Coleen will always be there for you .With our love and prayers for all of you, Uncle Jack and Aunt Jean
