WARD, Allan Robert

 

November 9, 1932 – November 4, 2020

 

Just 5 days before his 88th birthday, Allan Robert Ward passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Bluewater Health CEE Site Petrolia, Ontario.   Beloved husband of Joan (nee Nottley) Ward for 64 years.  Proud father of Carol of Petrolia, Paul (Lynda) of Pickering, Michael of Paisley, Tim (Cecilia) of Chatham, and Joel of Plympton-Wyoming.  Poppa to Sarah (David) of Ottawa, and Sofi of Chatham, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Allan was raised on a farm near Oil Springs.  He enjoyed telling people about the history of the area.  He was a Teacher and Principal for 36 years, beginning his career at 4 ½ Plympton-Wyoming, then to Corunna 2 years later where he spent 22 years at Hill Street, Murray Street and Colborne Street Schools, in Sarnia at George Perry, retiring at Riverview, Sombra-Port Lambton.  Real estate called him for a few years until finally retiring to enjoy the lake and gardening at Hillcrest Heights.  Allan was an active member of the United Church at Corunna and Forest, and at the Presbytery and Conference level.

 

Predeceased by his parents Robert and Pansy (Smale) Ward, his sister Mary McLean, brothers Jim (Donna), and Wilfred, his nephews Larry Ward, Bob McLean, and niece Betty Lou McCormack.

 

The family would like to thank the many doctors who treated Allan through the years, especially Dr. Robert Borek and Dr. John Butler.  We wish to thank the staff at Fiddick’s Nursing Home.  The good care you provided as well as your kindness to him and his family is so appreciated.  Our thanks also to the staff at CEE, your care and compassion made a difficult time much easier.
