Obituary of Ronald MacGregor Gillatly

GILLATLY, Mr. Ronald MacGregor Passed away suddenly at Bluewater Health on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Vanita (nee Forbes). Loving father of Janice Parker (Steve), David Gillatly (Nancy), and Dwayne Gillatly (Cheryl). Cherished Papa of Sean Parker (Jill), Jordyn Parker (Dale), Riley Vandeschoot (Gary), Randa Harris (Adam), Tieson Gillatly, and Scarlett. Papa Ron will also be missed by his great grandchildren Oakleigh, Bowen, Joe, Ada, and Rae. Loving brother–in-law of Vivian Huctwith (late Tom), Murray Forbes (Pat), and Jayne Freer (late Jim). Ronald was the much-loved son of Mac and Mae Gillatly. He was raised on the family farm in Plympton-Wyoming and spent his adult years raising his own family in his childhood home. He enjoyed being a fulltime farmer, and was a proud truck driver at Imperial Oil, Sarnia, for over 28 years. Ron loved his rural community and was able to give back to his friends and neighbours after being elected to Township council in the early 80’s. Ron and Vanita happily retired to Forest 11 years ago, but Ron was still able to continue driving tractors until his final days. His greatest love was his family. He was a true patriarch and always a devoted husband, father, papa and great-papa. We will all miss him terribly. Private Services. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
