So many wonderful memories of this “spunky” lady. We had years of trips to Sarnia to attend White Cane Meetings.
We had lots of chats about our interest in plants and gardening. Barbaree had a way with Amaryllis plants.
Fun times!!

My sympathies to Peter and all of Barbaree’s family. Our neighbour “across the road” , she never ceased to amaze. She was able to get the most out of life as she knew it and at the same time was an inspiration to all who came to know her.A wonderful lady with a ton of spunk.May she Rest In Peace. The Courtneys were long time neighbours of my family on the 14th of Plympton. After the passing of her parents, Barb continued to live on her own out in the country. I always marveled at how she was able to do all the household chores inside and look after the garden and flower beds outside. She was very crafty as well. We still have the wooden serving tray she made and gave us for a wedding gift--a talented lady, indeed.
To Peter, Evelyn and family please accept our condolences. May your many memories be kept close at heart.

I'm sorry to hear of Barbaree's death. She and my mother, Eleanor Russell, were great pals. Mom was her driver when she went to conventions and they always had a wonderful time together. I was amazed at how she could live alone in her house in the country. She got around so well. Please accept my sympathy.

Dear Peter, Evelyn and family....so sorry to hear of Barbaree's passing.
Barbaree has been a good friend for 35 years to myself and our family. We enjoyed many holidays and family gatherings with Barbaree present.
She didn't take any 'nonsense' from the kids but was also able to join in the fun. I remember one such gathering when we all walked over to the lake up on the cliff to experiment with a potato gun someone had brought. People were taking turns and someone laughingly asked her if she wanted to try it. "Ok", Barbaree surprised us with, and after instructions she shot that potato out into the lake.
Barbaree wasn't afraid of challenges and in turn challenged others to 'get on with it'. She didn't understand why people thought she couldn't do things ' just because she was blind'. "Do people think I'm stupid just because I can't see?" For most of her later years she helped bring household aids to blind people in the community and spoke at various events.
She amazed our kids with how she could knit, cook, bake (they loved her pumpkin pies!) grow her own flowers and vegetables and the list goes on. However, she was unhappy with not being able to drive!
But now she is happy in her eternal home, singing praises with her ears fully open and her eyes on her dear Lord Jesus.
We will dearly miss Barbaree...
