Glen;
Please pass on my sympathies to everyone in your family. I know as a labeled 'Artsy F artsy", I may be criticized for this...but what my Ma would say, 'Go for it!'. I always looked up to your Pa as I was growing up, and learned to appreciate him even more when I returned home to teach. Do not be offended, but has/was always been my equivalent of George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life'.He loved and respected a long established family business;
embraced small town life and community, and gave to us all tenfold (even more). He was selfless, kind and empathetic to all and not only raised his children but we peers as well.
I retired to be closer to Pa who is also 82, as brothers are too busy. I regret I only saw this today. Please accept our sincerest condolences for Glen, (the late great Adelaide), Eva, Eric, Ean and Emily.

To the Van Valkenburg Family,
I was saddened to learn of Craig's passing. Although it's been many years since seeing Anne and Craig, I will always have fond memories of the times spent at the lake.
Craig, to me (a young child at the time), seemed larger than life with his hobbies and obvious love for Anne and his family.
On behalf of my brother (Glenn) and our families we would like to extend our deepest condolences.

Dear Anne, Glen, Stephen, Jana & families: Craig sold us our engagement and wedding rings after Bob had spotted them in the Van Valkenburg's window in 1967. Later on, when my Mom, Myrtle Coulbeck passed away in 1985, I took her rings into Craig to see what I could do with them. He redesigned her diamonds into what I have always called my "dinner" ring. How lucky we were to have such a caring business man in our little town - and now to have his son, Glen carry on with that same personalized service is just amazing. Rest in peace, "Jewels" Van Valkenburg.

Dear Anne and the entire Van Valkenburg clan
We all have lost a very special person with Craig's death. His smile and positive attitude lives on in all of you.
Your video dedication captured so much of the person I have literally known all my life as your neighbour at Hillsboro. Some of my fondest memories involve the Van Valkenburg household and the temptations that lay within.
Whether it was sharing a beer underage (the best kind) or seeing a hydroplane skim over the lake it was always interesting and enjoyable. There will be many memories to help you during this time of change. You have a firm foundation for your families to build upon and Saint Anne to continue guiding the way.
Much love

Dear Van Valkenburg family,
Anne, children, grandchildren and extended family,
Our thoughts are with you.
Sincerely, Elke (a.k.a Mrs. Ward to the youngest members of the family), Tom, and son Xander
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying...
