Obituary of Katharine Mary Beadon

Katharine Mary Beadon was born 7 September 1920 Kay was Best Friend and cousin of Margaret Charriol Cotnam. Predeceased by her brother Patrick, Kay is survived by her dear friend Catherine Heffernan, cousin Stephen Charriol Cotnam (Katie) close friends Frank Ferguson, Nellie and Joe Boere. Kay will be missed by many friends and family members. Kay was born in London, England, then moved to Madras, India, spent her early childhood there and at seven moved to Ireland and then at 14 to Guernsey in the Channel Islands. She was educated at the London School of Medicine for Women. She graduated as a physician in 1944 specializing in Obstetrics at the Royal Free Hospital in London. In 1950, she joined the Ursuline Sisters and trained as an educator. She moved to Windsor, Canada in 1956 with the Ursulines where she taught at the Catholic School Board. She left the sisterhood in 1967 and returned to medical practice joining the Windsor General Hospital as a Psychiatrist. She set up her own practice in Windsor. After a number of years in private practice she choose a new adventure as a sailor. Kay left Windsor to sail her 29 foot C and C yacht, B&B II to Florida and the Caribbean. She later returned to Windsor and learned the Real Estate Business, became a Broker and a Real Estate Sales Trainer. Kay retired to Forest in 1995 and became active in the Forest community. She served on the Board of Directors of the Forest Rotary Club and was instrumental in helping to establish the Lambton Shores Medical Centre. Kay volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Forest White Cane Club for many years. She was an active member of St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church. Kay loved literature and poetry and had a strong intellect and character. She was the epitome of the life-long learner. She loved to meet new challenges. Her wonderful wit and memory allowed her to recall many Irish poems and stories to the delight of those around her. Kay will be missed. Visitation will take place at DENNINGS OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, Ontario, on Sunday, June 7, 2015, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 68 Union Street, Forest, Ontario, on Monday morning, June 8, 2015, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church. Kay's family and Friends would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the North Lambton Lodge for their very special care". In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Christopher's Church, 68 Union Street, Forest, Ontario N0N 1J0, may be made in Kay's memory. Online condolences may be made at www.denning.ca
